We kick off our Summer E-Book Club on Saturday, June 15th, 2019. The first 25 students who register to join our summer book club, can pick up their reserved copy of this incredible literary work at our 1st Saturday Morning Professor Session Of the Year, on Saturday, June 15th. If you miss the cut off, feel free to still join us and pick up your copy on Amazon or download the PDF For FREE !! (google Medical Apartheid PDF)

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN US?

We invite Mentees, Mentors and everyone who cares about the future of healthcare for the most vulnerable amongst us, to join us for our Summer E-Book Club where we will read "Medical Apartheid" and meet up online to talk about it. If you're looking for a reason to carve out some precious time to join I AM ABEL FOUNDATION'S ANNUAL Summer E-Book Club, I'll give you THREE.

Reason 1

In the words of George Santayana's famous quote, "those who don't remember the past are doomed to repeat it." As future Healthcare Heroes and students from underrepresented minorities, it's critical to understand the racist and horrific atrocities committed against Black Americans in the name of "medicine." Understanding this history puts you in the best position to make sure that it is never repeated. Since knowledge is power, this is reason enough to join us.

Reason 2

This is a part of our Critical Reading Series designed for our students to gain confidence, experience and proficiency in dissecting and critically analyzing any literary work. Why is this important? Because the MCAT is overrun with reading passages scattered throughout the exam but is also concentrated in the infamously known CARS section that tends to be an area where students of color have the least experience and often the poorest performance. Rather than run from it.... get in to it!

Reason 3

It's fun! This is yet another opportunity to build our Mentoring Community while growing in knowledge and enjoying fellowship. It's also easy as we can simply all meet in the comfort of our homes yet still spend time together. I can't imagine a better gift to yourself! Invite a fellow student and your physician and medical student mentors.

CAMARI JONES, Freshman from Albion College will be our E-Book Moderator. REGISTER NOW! Click here>
