I Am Abel Foundation would like to formally invite medical students, physicians, faculty and leaders/administrators at Chicago area medical academic centers to nominate deserving medical students for this year's coveted Still Standing Awardee. Each year, I Am Abel Foundation recognizes medical students who have overcome significant obstacles as they pursue their dream of becoming a physician. It is an award that celebrates leadership, humanitarianism and resilience amongst our underrepresented medical students.

(How It All Works)
The Still Standing Awardee must also commit to undertake a project that supports the mission of I Am Abel Foundation to raise our next generation of healthcare heroes. There will be a line item budget to support this important advocacy project and students may choose from numerous existing outreach projects already in existence or, upon approval, create a project of their own.
The awardee will also be gifted with a travel award and may choose from among several sponsored travel experiences that support the students continued growth and development in the realm of medical education, leadership and humanitarian service. Several options include scholarship support for travel to Haiti, Cuba or Costa Rica or other initiatives sponsored by I Am Abel Foundation. Other travel options options for all expenses paid (registration, accommodations, air travel) will be determined in the future.
