Personal Bio:
I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, and have lived in the city since medical school at Northwestern. Besides teaching, research, and seeing patients, I like to spend time with my family and take walks in nature.
Favorite part of I Am Abel: The energy and enthusiasm of the fantastic students, volunteers, and leaders.
Why is the mission of I Am Abel so important? We need the profession of medicine to look more like the patients we serve.
Favorite thing to do with your mentee: Giving advice and teaching
.
Why did you want to become a physician? Biology was my favorite high school subject and I wanted to choose a profession where I could help people and not be stuck at a desk. When in medical school, I loved the sense of mission and advocacy in the specialty of Pediatrics and it was my favorite rotation in my 3rd year.
