Proud is an understatement. I can not fully express what it means to play a role in the life of this young woman Estefania Perez Luna who is destined for greatness through a life of service. She was celebrated at I Am Abel Foundation’s gala as she received our coveted STILL STANDING award and scholarship as we celebrated medical student resilience. SHE IS THE FIRST DACA MEDICAL STUDENT to attend UIC College of Medicine and honestly that is just the beginning. What she has overcome to live her dreams would shatter most. So How do I decide who will make an amazing physician? When I know today that I would choose you tomorrow to be my or my family’s doctor. Here’s to our next generation of healthcare heroes.
