There are about 100,00 people in the United States with Sickle cell disease - of whom 90 percent are of African descent. A close blood type match is essential and is found in donors of the same race or similar ethnicity. Please support in saving the Sickle Cell Patients in our community. One donation saves approximately three lives.
Appointments preferred! For an appointment call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org. All donations from self-identified African American blood donors will be screened for the sickle cell trait. Results in 1-2 weeks.
