Jacques Conway affectionately known to many as both Pastor and Sergeant Conway, he often quipped, "If I don’t catch you on my first job, I’ll catch you on my second." After 22 years of service, he made history as the first African American police officer to retire from the Oak Park, Illinois Police Department. Throughout his dual careers, his focus has always remained on children.

He founded the Oak Park Police Explorers, which he led for nearly a decade, and launched a groundbreaking tutorial program at Neighborhood United Methodist Church, transforming the lives of children in Maywood. Upon retiring from law enforcement, Jacques served as Vice President of Community Equity and Outreach at Park National Bank. His dedication to service has also taken him across the globe, from Haiti to Ghana, on various mission trips.

Jacques has been proudly married for to his high school sweetheart, Dr. LaMenta “Sweetie” Conway, the founder and president of the I AM ABEL Foundation. Together, they have raised three children who share their passion for service and have accompanied their parents on numerous service missions. In his free time, Jacques enjoys reading, old-school R&B, and spending quality time with his family.
