With powerful black men and thought leaders of our community, we will discuss our "state of emergency" due to the “disappearance" and continued absence of black men from medicine and our urgent call to create change NOW.

Discuss how to improve the pipeline and how to provide a safe space for black men to flourish in medicine

Black men make up 2% of Practicing Physicians in the US while black people make up13% of the population.

Fewer black men applied to medical school in 2014 than in 1978.

I Am Abel Foundation is pleased to invite Chicago/Suburban and Northwest Indiana Area Students to display and share your research, quality improvement, journal review or clinical projects at our Scientific Poster Session on Saturday, May 18, 2024 . This poster presentation is open to students in High School, College, College Graduate/Post - Baccalaureate Students, etc...
There will be cash prizes based on specific categories. More importantly, it's your time to share what you have learned with fellow students and Chicago's leaders in academic medicine and healthcare. All students presenting in the forum will have complimentary tickets to our Closing Cocktail Reception on Saturday evening where poster board winners will be announced. The Closing Reception is not to be missed! Chicago area medical students and leaders in academia will be on hand to celebrate our Future Heroes in Healthcare!
The Poster Presentation is part of a wonderful 3 day conference presented by I Am Abel Foundation and hosted at Rush University Medical Center, 600 S. Paulina, Chicago, IL. 60612
All submissions will be reviewed by the Forum’s Poster Review Committee and approved or not approved by the Poster Review Committee. You will be notified and given follow up instructions/orientation in preparation for the event.

Are you a physician, healthcare or law professional and are interested in facilitating an educational or clinical skills workshop or panel discussion at our upcoming conference?
Clinical Skills Workshops might include anything from bedside ultrasonography to advanced suture techniques for our medical students to airway management and hands on CPR for our younger mentees. Topics in law are also welcome. The possibilities are endless.
