She has had a rich medical career which started at Loyola University Chicago where she graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in psychology. During her undergraduate studies, she felt a strong calling to study medicine. She graduated from Loyola University's Stritch School of Medicine in 1994 and then entered a combined residency program at Detroit's Wayne State University hospitals In both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
She returned to Chicago and did Immediate Care Medicine before returning to academic medicine for a season teaching medical students and residents cultural competency at Westlake. In 2007, she joined Elmhurst Clinic's Internal Medicine hospitalist program where she served in cared for the critically ill.
When her parents fell ill to sickness, her work as an Internal Medicine physician transitioned to a palliative care role. She passed her palliative care and hospice medicine boards in 2012 and became Elmhurst hospital's medical director in palliative care in 2015.
During this transition, she returned to graduate school and is currently studying for post -graduate degrees in acupuncture and oriental medicine, bioethics and theological studies at National University of Health Sciences and Trinity International University.
Her return to school resulted from another strong call to study the different approaches and styles to healing. Eventually, she hopes to bring all the fruits of her learning together to help patients on their path to healing! Welcome Dr. Salvador !
